The textile industry takes the biggest share in the economic growth of a nation because creates a variety of job opportunities and integration with different economic sectors both globally and locally.
Textile auxiliaries manufacturers in India are well established in terms of production, variety, and quality.
From fibre to fabric, all stages required various textile auxiliary chemicals for processing. It involves pre-treatment, dyeing, printing, and finishing auxiliaries.
Textile finishing processes are carried out to improve the natural properties or attractiveness of the fabric and to increase its serviceability. Textile auxiliary improves the “appearance” and “handle” of a fabric.
Finishing processes are divided into:
• Mechanical finishing: It will produce temporary [e.g., Schreinering] or Durable or permanent [e.g., Anti-shrinking] effects.
• Chemical finishing: It will produce temporary as well as durable effects. These chemicals are applied onto or deposited in the textile materials and retained there either by mechanical deposition and held therein by physical forces and/or chemical reaction, thereby having durability to various degrees to the after treatments involving washing, dry-cleaning, exposures to sunlight, perspiration, heat etc. during the use of the finished fabrics.
Different types of finishing textile auxiliary chemicals involved:
1. Stiffening agents: It is applied to the textile substrate to give the required stiffness and body. These include corn starch, wheat starch, maize starch, gums, Polyvinyl acetate, carboxymethyl cellulose, polyacrylates, etc. Pidilite is offering a Pidivyl range for stiffening on cotton, polyester, and its blended fabric.
2. Softeners: It is vital for a comfortable handle and to improve the physical properties of woven & Knitted substrate. It includes paraffin, non-ionic softeners, anionic softeners, cationic softeners, reactive softeners, silicone emulsion, etc. Pidimine CS is a cationic softener that enhances the soft feel of the fabric.
3. Optical brighteners: It is also known as fluorescent brightening agents, which give a whitening effect to the fabric. They absorb light in the ultraviolet & violet regions and re-emit the light in the blue region. Its use in Textiles, plastics, Paper & cosmetics, etc. Ranipal 2B & Ranipal 2 BA are well-established products in the market.
4. Water and oil repellents: Water/oil repellent textile auxiliary can provide durable water/oil repellency without compromising the natural feel of cotton. Common end uses for these finishes include upholstery, rugs, carpets, protective clothing Filter fleece, Uniforms, Tablecloths, wallpaper, etc. It includes Wax dispersions free of metal ions, Metallic salts, and soaps, wax dispersions containing Zirconium salts and Pyridinium compounds, Silicones, Organo Chromium compounds & Fluorochemicals.
5. Teknotex WR 630 & Teknotex WR 830 are excellent Water, Oil & Alcohol repellents for Textiles.
6. Flame retardants: Flame retardants are textile auxiliary applied to the substrate to hinder or suppress the combustion process. They interfere with combustion at various stages e.g., during heating, decomposition, ignition of flame spread. It includes brominated flame retardant, chlorinated flame retardant, Phosphorous-containing flame retardants, etc.
7. Antimicrobial finish: Antimicrobial finishing can be used to protect textiles against microbial corrosion, and prevention of malodor, prophylaxis, and infections. It inhibits the growth of microbes on fabric treated with an antimicrobial finish. Teknotex AM 200 broad spectrum, non-leaching, non-toxic, durable antimicrobial. Teknotex AM 300 is a polymer-based antimicrobial that uses the delivery system to transport and secure the silver ions to a treated article.
Also crosslinking agents, Soil release agents, Anti-static Agents & Antipilling Agents, and other textile auxiliaries manufacturers in India on the large scale.
