In polymer chemistry, Acrylic resins are polymeric materials containing acrylic monomers in the form of solution and dispersion. These monomers are usually esters of acrylic, methacrylic acids or their derivatives. These Resins shows good chemical and photochemical resistance, good exterior weatherability, high abrasion resistance, resistance to corrosion, multi substrate adhesion, good balance of elongation and tensile properties, water proofing properties. For a given application, the properties of a resin can be tuned or enhanced by combination with other materials. They are commonly used in many different applications in water-based industrial coatings to architectural coatings.
Key parameters of an acrylic resin are:
    •   Tg (Glass transition temperature)
    •   MFFT (Minimum Film Forming Temperature)
    •   Particle size
    •   Average Molecular weight of the polymers
